Although Law Minister Anisul Huq confirmed UNB about the development on Sunday, he did not say what prompted the two AAGs to quit.
“Their resignation letters will be accepted as soon as we receive them,” he said.
UNB court correspondent adds that Murad Reza sent his resignation letter to the Law Ministry on Sunday morning.
On the other hand, Montaz sent his resignation letter to the Solicitor's Office of the Law Ministry citing personal reasons.
AM Amin Uddin, a senior lawyer of the Supreme Court and President of Bangladesh Supreme Court Bar Association, was appointed as the new attorney general on October 8 after death of country’s 15th AG Mahbubey Alam from coronavirus on September 27.
There was a rumor about the resignation of the two dditional Attorney Generals since the appointment of the new attorney general. If the resignations of Murad Reza and Momtaz Uddin Fakir are accepted, the number of additional Attorney Generals will be one. He is Additional Attorney General SM Munir who was appointed on September 1.
Murad Reza was appointed Additional Attorney General on March 27, 2009 and Momtaz Uddin Fakir on July 4, 2010.
