Members of Criminal Investigation Department (CID) arrested four workers of Benapole Customs House on Tuesday morning in connection with looting of 17 kg of gold from its vault.
The arrestees are Tipu Sultan, 28, Laltu Miah, 40, Asad, 35, and Sultan Morol, 55. They had been working at the customs house on contractual basis.
Joint commissioner Shahidul Islam of the customs house said with the arrest of the four, the number of arrestees has risen to five.
Earlier, CID arrested Ajibar in connection with the incident.
Jakir Hossain, officer-in-charge of CID, said they were interrogating arrestees.
On November 11, Md Emdadul Haque, revenue officer of the customs house, filed a case with Benapole Police Station as 17 kgs gold were found missing from the vault when the office reopened after Eid-Miladunnabi vacation in November last.
