Chandpur, May 25 (UNB) – A touchstone idol of Lord Vishnu has been found in a pond in Kachua upazila.
Quoting locals, Mohammad Oliullah, officer-in-charge of Kachua Police Station, said Amir Hossain, Waliullah and Osman Fakir of Koroish village found the idol in the pond while catching fish on Friday.
However, they concealed the matter.
Acting on a tip-off, police conducted a drive at the village around 1:30am on Saturday and recovered the 82-kg idol, 38 inches in length and 19 inches in width, the OC said.
It will be handed over to the Department of Archaeology, he added.
