Dhaka, Apr 8 ( UNB)— Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) on Monday approved charge sheet against five people, including Farmers Bank director Mahbubul Haque Chisti, for misappropriating around Tk160 crore.
ACC spokesperson Pranab Kumar Bhatacharaje told UNB that the accused embezzled TK 159.95 crore by misusing their power.
According to case documents, the accused opened 25 accounts in different branches of the bank in the name of their family members and respective organisations, in collaboration with bank officials.
The case was filed at Gulshan Model Police Station on April 10 last year.
Other accused are – Chisti’s wife Ruji and son Rashedul Haque; former SVP of the bank Zia Uddin Ahmed, and first president of Bakshiganj branch in Kamalapur (currently discharged) Muhammad Masudur Rahman Khan.
ACC Deputy Director Mohammad Shamsul Alam, who investigated the case, will submit the charge sheet in the concerned court.
