Senior Judicial magistrate Nazrul Islam passed the order when the ruling party leader Abdur Rashid was present on the dock and sought bail.
The court denied his bail petition and sent to jail, said Shahin Shah Parvej, officer-in-charge of Ullapara Model Police Station.
Police were trying to arrest the rest four accused- Munsur, 38, Abdus Salam, 45, Nasir Uddin, 40 and Shahidul Islam, 32, of Gozail village, said the OC.
As per the case statement, the accused stopped Bilkis Khatun, wife of Jahangir Hosssain of Gozail village on her way home and cut her hair over a false slander on November 25.
The woman on December 2, filed a case against the five including the AL leader with Ullapara Police Station, OC added.
Meanwhile, a video clip of the incident went viral on social media where the five men were seen gleefully cutting off all the hair of the victim, which is considered an embarrassing insult for women in the social context of Bangladesh.
