Barishal, Sept 23 (UNB) – 32 people including the personal secretary of a lawmaker have been accused in a case filed over the killing of a Union Parishad Chairman in Uzirpur Upazila on Sunday.
Victim’s father Suklal Haldar filed the case on Sunday accusing 32 people including MP Talukder Yunus’s PS Abu Sayeed and a UP member Taijur Rahman Pannu while 7/8 people were also accused as unnamed, said Md Humayun Kabir, Additional Police Super of Barishal district.
Police are investigating the case and trying to catch the accused people within the shortest possible time, he added.
On Friday night, a gang of armed motorcyclists shot the chairman, Biswajit Halder, at Karfa village market in the union, killing him on the spot and soon fled the scene.
Meanwhile, local Awami-League leaders and activists along with local people staged a demonstration in the Upazila Sadar on Sunday, seeking exemplary punishment of whoever was behind the killing.
