In WSIS action line category-6 (Enabling Environment Category) Winner Award is considered as one of the most prestigious awards that Bangladesh got along with 17 other projects of different countries of the world, said a BCC press release.
Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology Minister Mustafa Jabbar and State Minister for ICT Zunaid Ahmed Palak received the awards from International Telecommunication Union (ITU) Secretary General Haolin Zhao at an awards ceremony held in ITU headquarters, Geneva of Switzerland on Tuesday.
The Winner Award was given for developing Bangladesh Digital Enterprise Architecture (BNDA) and e-Governance Interoperability Framework (e-GIF) under Leveraging ICT for Growth, Employment and Governance (LICT) Project while the Championship Award for establishing digital connectivity under Development of ICT Infra-network for Bangladesh government (InfoSarker-3) project.
This year, Bangladesh was conferred one winner and eight championship awards in different categories. Of them two were given to BCC.
Initially, some 1,062 projects were shortlisted from 1,140 submitted by different countries of the world for WSIS awards.
Later, 492 projects were uploaded online for open votes and 90 projects which got 20 lakh responses were listed for WSIS awards in different categories.
