Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) seized smuggled goods and drugs worth Tk 61.25 crore from across the country in the last month.
Besides, 284 people were arrested for smuggling goods and drugs during this period, BGB said in a press release issued on Tuesday.
BGB also detained 56 Bangladeshis for crossing the border illegally. Legal actions were taken against them.
The seized contraband items include: – 12,09,526 pieces of Yaba pills, 43,651 bottles of phensedyl, 6,566 bottles of foreign liquor, 283 can beer, 1,175 kg hemp, 1.496 kgs of heroin, 16,393 injections and different types of tablets.
Other seized smuggled goods are – 9.864 kg gold, 74.15 kg silver, 859 sets of imitation ornaments, 50, 404 sets cosmetics, 1972 sarees, 133 sets of three pieces, 2,823 kg tea leaves, one touchstone statue, 17 readymade garments products, 149 CFT wood, one trucks, one pick-up van, 23 engine-run auto-rickshaws and 79 motorcycles.
The paramilitary force also seized two pistols, one LG and six bullets.
