Momtaz Uddin, district Awami League president and a member of the party’s central working committee, was admitted to Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital at 9pm on Saturday after suffering a heart attack. He breathed his last around 5am on Sunday, said family sources.
He left behind his wife, two sons and two daughters as well as a host of relatives and admirers to mourn his death.
His first namaj-e-janaza is scheduled to be held at Altafunnesa ground after Zohr prayers and second one will be held at Manik Chak High School field in Sadar upazila.
Later, he will be buried at his family graveyard at Kodimpara village.
State Minister for Foreign Affairs M Shahriar Alam expressed deep shock at the death of the AL leader.
In a condolence message, the he prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed profound sympathy to the bereaved family members and his political followers.
“Momtaz Uddin was a widely respected political personality,” said the State Minister adding that he was the first valiant freedom fighter who hoisted the flag of freedom in Bogura and was a trusted political leader of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
