Dhaka, July 10 (UNN) – The Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) declined to accept Q2 charges from the Mobile Network Operators (MNOs).
The MNOs were supposed to make their April-June quarter payment to BTRC on Tuesday.
But the amount excluded VAT amount since BTRC did not have a VAT registration, argued brig gen (retd) SM Farhad, secretary general of Association of Mobile Telecom Operators of Bangladesh (AMTOB).
Even though BTRC does not have VAT registration, MNOs decided to pay the charges to run the telecommunication service uninterrupted considering more than 16 crore mobile users, he said.
Earlier, AMTOB requested both the National Board of Revenue and BTRC to find a way out on how to make the payment of the quarterly charges avoiding any legal complication but did not receive any response till date, he claimed.
