One of their demands is the cancellation of Student Welfare Director Abul Kashem Mia’s appointment.
Students boycotted classes and examinations and locked the vice-chancellors office and administrative building in the morning. They staged a four-hour sit-in at National Shaheed Minar from 11am.
One of the protesters, Hasan Shahriar Saikat of mechanical engineering department, said that the VC had refused to meet them even as student unrest rocks the country’s premier engineering university.
“We’ll continue to protest until our demands are met,” Saikat said.
The campus remains closed on Thursday and Friday. The protesters said they would declare their next course of action on Saturday.
The demonstration started on June 13 after the VC refused to meet agitating students.
