A meeting of the district coronavirus control and prevention committee took the decision, said Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Shafiul Arif.
District coronavirus control and prevention committee meeting, presided over by DC, started at 11am and finally decided to keep the businesses and shops open.
Businessmen can keep their shops open if they want, but they must maintain health directives, the DC said adding that hand washing facilities should be available at every shop.
People must maintain physical distance while shopping, he added.
Superintendent of Police Muhammad Ashraf Hossain, Lt Col Neyamul, Civil Surgeon Dr Sheikh Abu Shahin, General Hospital’s supervisor Dr Dilip Kumar Roy among others were present at the meeting.
Earlier on April 27, Jashore district was declared under lockdown to prevent coronavirus infection.
Bangladesh has so far reported 38,292 coronavirus cases and 544 deaths.
The health authorities reported 1,541 fresh coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours until Wednesday morning.
