“No more corruption will be allowed in the country, the corruption has hurt our dream and spirit of independence. It has also hindered the development of the country,” he said.
Attending a seminar organised by Bangladesh Progressive Columnist Forum at Jatiya Press Club as chief guest, the minister came up with the remarks.
“We have to ensure use of information and communication technology in every sector because corruption would be automatically removed if everything becomes digital. The Anti-Corruption Commission should be more skillful and strong. Exemplary punishment should be given to the corrupted people”, he said.
“In Bangladesh curbing corruption is a challenging issue, only under the leadership of Prime Minister it is possible. Only law cannot prevent corruption. We should teach our children in the textbook about values against corruption. I would request Education Minister to include text of ideology in the syllabus of children,” he said.
Talking about the corruption case against BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia, he said the sentence of 10 years for amassing two and half crore taka is not big punishment. It proves that highest power centric people of the country are not out the purview of law, he added.
“Some self-declared leaders are alleging that the country is not running properly as we have graved at the key points of corruption. They are launching such allegations because they are drowned in corruption,” railed Haqu Forum’s convener Prof Mizanur Rahman presided over the seminar where Rabindra University principal Dr Bishwajit Ghosh, Columnist and security analyst Major general AK Mohammad Ali Shikdar, Columnist Subhash Singh Roy also spoke, among others.
