Moulvibazar, May 10 (UNB)— The number of people suffering from diarrhoea is increasing due to heat wave and scarcity of pure drinking water at Sreemangal tea gardens.
Sreemangal Upazila Health Complex sources said that at least 92 diarrhoea patients have been hospitalised in the last week.
The disease has claimed the life of 60-year-old tea worker Rajkumar.
More than 528 patients have been hospitalised from April to May 9. Most of them are women and children.
Dr Sadat Hossain from Vurvuria Tea Estate said that severe heat, scarcity of safe drinking water and malnutrition are causing diarrhea among the tea workers.
Sreemangal Upazila Helath and Family Planning Officer Dr Shakhawat Hossain that they have taken all necessary measures to control diarrhoea.
