The Islamic Foundation on Wednesday said offering Tarabi following prayers broadcast live on TV would not be acceptable during Ramadan from the religious point of view.
In a statement, the Foundation said confusion had arisen over the matter.
According to Islamic Sharia, the standing in queues behind an imam is essential for offering prayers in Tarabi which is not possible from home.
Islamic Foundation also requested television channels to stop airing Tarabi and other prayers live.
Earlier on April 23, the Religious Affairs Ministry said 12 people including two imams can attend Tarabi prayers at each mosque. The move was part of an initiative to prevent the transmission of coronavirus.
The government has been urging the people to stay indoors.
Meanwhile, coronavirus claimed eight more lives in the last 24 hours till Wednesday, taking the death toll in the country to 163.
Besides, a record number of 641 more people tested positive for coronavirus during the period, pushing the number of confirmed cases in the country to 7,103.
