Dhaka, Oct 14 (UNB) – Dhaka University (DU) on Tuesday will remember the students and guests who were killed in a tragic incident at Jagannath Hall on the night of October 15 in 1985 .
On that day in 1985, a total of 39 people, including 26 students and 13 guests, died in a tragic incident of roof collapse of a one-storey building at the dormitory.
The DU authorities have taken various programmes, including hoisting black flags in all dorms, brining out mourning processions, placing wreaths at the memorial of the victims and offering special prayers, said a DU press release on Monday.
A blood donation programme will be arranged on Jagannath Hall premises while a painting exhibition will be held from 10 am to 6pm at the dormitory.
Besides, a discussion programme will be held at the television room of October Memorial Building of Jagannath hall from 8 am to 9 am.
The hall authorities will also arrange ‘October Memorial Essay Competition’ and ‘October Memorial Painting Competition’ on the hall premises.
