The mandap, fairly large in size has been tastefully decorated and the idols built with fine craftsmanship. Not only the media personnel but locals of Karwan Bazar area flock to witness the ‘Mediapara Sharadiya Durgotshab’ mandap.
“The country has proven that it believes in communal harmony...we are united in festivals,” said Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan while inaugurating a cultural programme held at the Mandap Sunday.
He also highlighted that in his constituency there has been an increase in Mandap numbers.
“Few days ago I had a meeting with the Indian Prime Minister. He told me in private that Bangladesh has become a role model to the world in abolishing terrorism and promoting communal harmony,” Asaduzzaman Khan added.
Farida Yasmin, General Secretary of Jatiya Press Club, also lauded the hosts and said among everyone the Bengali spirit is awakening.
“This part of the city houses many media houses of the country whose workers are on duty almost 24x7. So we had been thinking about doing something special for them,” Munni Saha told UNB.
“We cleaned the place up and decided to set up mandap here to celebrate the Puja,” she said.
