Dhaka, Nov 22 (UNB) – The Family Welfare Service and Publicity Week 2018 will begin in the country on Saturday (November 24) aiming to provide health services to people, especially children and mothers.
The theme of the week is ‘Do the Institutional Delivery: Ensure Family Planning in Post-delivery’, said Health, Education and Family Welfare division Secretary GM Salauddin while speaking at a press briefing at the Secretariat on Thursday.
The secretary also said the maternal mortality rate is now 172 which will bring into 121 by 2022 and the government has set a target to bring it down to 70 by 2030.
Besides, the government also set a target to increase institutional delivery rate as it is now 47 percent by reducing the maternal mortality rate, he said.
The population growth rate is now 1.26 percent and it was 1.39 percent in 2009 while family planning use rate is 62 percent from the previous 55.7 percent in 2007.
