"You (Public representatives) shouldn’t show any audacity to mass people. You have to pay more attention to social activities alongside your regular ones. Then people will be benefitted and the country will go ahead," he said while addressing a public meeting organised by Nagorik Committee of Austagram upazila at the Austagram Govt Pilot High School playground.
Describing people as the source of all power, the President Hamid said "You’re representatives of the people of your area from where you’re elected. If you try to show any arrogance with the mass people, you’ll get very negative feedback in future. Even you have to behave well with those who were your opponents during the election."
Hailing the ongoing drive against corruption, drugs and gambling, he said, "I received some information that a few people, especially youths, are taking drugs and getting involved in drug dealing in our area. If senior citizens, prominent personalities and public representatives don’t take any step right now to control this, it’ll destroy our area as well as the whole country."
