Chapainawabganj, Sept 20 (UNB) – A court here on Friday granted four-day remand for four men, including a union parishad chairman, in a case filed over severing the wrists of a young man.
They are – Shibganj upazila’s Wazirpur Union Parishad Chairman Foyez Uddin, his associates Tarique Ahmed, Alauddin, Jahangir Alam and Tariq Hasan Rimon.
Senior Judicial Magistrate Moinul Hossain gave the order in the afternoon.
Jahangir Hossain, sub-inspector of Shibganj Police Station, also the investigation officer of the case, said he had sought seven days to interrogate the suspects.
A group of men, reportedly led by the UP chairman, severed the wrists of Romel Hossain, 28, at Ujirpur in Shibganj upazila on Wednesday.
Victim’s mother Ruli Begum filed a case against 22 people with Sibganj Police on Thursday night.
Romel is being treated at Rajshahi Medical College Hospital.
“We’re conducting raids to arrest others accused in the case,” the SI said.
