He made remarks at BMA building in the capital while briefing two teams of doctors formed to provide treatment to Bangladeshis hajis during Hajj.
Health and Family Welfare Ministry, and Religious Affairs Ministry separately formed the medical teams comprising 207 members.
Of them, 68 doctors, 54 nurses, 26 pharmacists and six lab technicians from Health Ministry will go to Saudi Arabia.
Malik said: “This year, 1,27,000 pilgrims, mostly elderly persons, will perform Hajj. They might suffer from heart diseases, diabetics and kidney complications. The government is sending the teams to ensure their treatment.”
Md Ashadul Islam, secretary for health services division of the ministry and Prof Dr Abul Kalam Azad, director general of Health Department, among others were present there.
