Dhaka, Sept 10 (UNB) - Environment, Forest and Climate Change Minister Md Shahab Uddin on Tuesday urged world leaders to come forward to help Bangladesh mitigate the risks of climate change.
He made the call while speaking at UNCCD COP-14 Convention in New Delhi, said a PID handout. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the event on Monday.
Minister Shahab said the agriculture in Bangladesh depends on the river water and noted that agriculture was being affected as rivers were drying up.
At least 57 cross-border rivers depend on upstream water while the north-western region of the country is at risk of desertification, he said, seeking cordial initiative to reduce climate change risk.
