The IGP issued the directive during a speech at the Quarterly Crime Review Meeting (April-June 2019) held in the conference room of the Police Headquarters. All Metropolitan Police Commissioners, Range DIGs and district police superintendents were present at the meeting.
The IGP said that no cattle haats, or makeshift markets, could be set up beside highways. Traffic has to be kept normal on highways, river routes and railways.
He also instructed police officers to take steps to prevent smuggling of rawhides of animals. Police would be deployed in both plainclothes and uniform to ensure security for the Eid Jamaats, including the main Eidgah, across the country.
The top officer of police force said police are in a tight spot against people who want to create an unstable environment in the country by spreading rumors.
He ordered immediate action whenever anyone is found spreading rumors and also asked police officers to remain alert so that no one can spread rumors about the garment industry ahead of Eid.
He thanked the police officers for their firm stand against the rumors and for taking a leading role and also urged police officers to carry out public awareness programs to prevent dengue. He praised the police officers for providing assistance to the flood victims.
The IGP said militant activities in the country is currently under control. The militants have to be monitored regularly. Legal action has to be taken against the militants by monitoring social media, he added.
The IGP directed field-level police officers to conduct investigation carefully in murder, rape, women and child abuse cases.
Chaired by the IGP, senior police officers of the police headquarters also attended the meeting.
