Jashore, Mar 5 (UNB) – Locals erupted in protest on Tuesday morning at Dharmatala demanding the arrest and exemplary punishment of people who murdered 8-year-old Trisha.
They demonstrated blocking parts of the Jashore-Jhenaidah Road around 10 am, halting vehicular movement for about an hour.
Trisha’s body was found in a sack in a ditch behind the house of a neighbour at Dharmatala on Monday evening, a day after she went missing.
Police said they suspect the child was raped before she was killed.
Her mother Josna Begum said Trisha went missing on Sunday afternoon after going out to play with her friends.
Residents of the house, behind which the body was found, have gone into hiding. Police say they are looking for them.
Apurba Hasan, officer-in-charge of Jashore Kotwali Police Station, said a case was filed over the child’s death.
