The residents of Khalishpur and Daulatpur areas use the bypass while leaving the city and face difficulties for the sorry state of the road as vehicles get stuck in big potholes, according to the locals.
“Crossing the road is a terrible experience for anyone. The road filled with small potholes turns more dangerous when it rains,” said Ali Ahmed, a resident if Khalishpur area.
Besides, passenger buses from Jashore and Satkhira take the route to travel to Bagerhat or Dhaka to avoid city traffic but these days they are facing trouble due to its ramshackle condition.
Talking to the UNB correspondent, local people said the road needs immediate renovation to end their sufferings.
Asked about the bad shape of the bypass, KDA Chairman Brig Gen Md Abdul Mukim Sarkar said, “I’ve no idea about the road condition as I have joined here recently.”
After consultation with the engineers concerned, necessary steps will be taken to repair the road, he said.
