Benapole, June 14 (UNB) – A man was hacked to death over land dispute at Laskarpur village in Chowgacha upazila on Friday noon.
The deceased was identified as Mominur Rahman, 50, son of Shamsuddin Islam in the upazila.
Rahman’s family members said that the dispute was over leasing a pond owned by two brothers.
Rahman had taken lease of half of the pond from one of the brothers while one Yunus took lease of the other half from another brother.
A clash occurred between the two lessees when Rahman was catching fish with a net at noon. At one stage, Yunus’ people hacked him with sharp weapons, leaving him critically injured.
He was taken to Chowgacha Hospital where doctors pronounced him dead.
A case was filed in this connection.
