Natore, May 21 (UNB)— The officer-in-charge of Banpara highway police was withdrawn on Tuesday over destruction of about 35,000 eggs of a trader who refused to bribe.
Alim Hossain Shikdar, the OC, has been attached to the office of Bogura highway police superintendent.
Jahangir Hossain, superintendent of Bagura zone highway police, confirmed the development.
On May 16, a pickup van carrying eggs fell beside the highway in Agran Sutirpar area of Baraigram upazila. The driver sought help from police but they demanded bribe. When the trader refused, the policemen destroyed the eggs.
So far, six policemen have been withdrawn after an investigation into the incident.
