The Kishoreganj chapter of Bangladesh Nurses’ Association organised the human chain in front of Sadar Hospital in the morning.
The protesters demanded justice for the victim -- Shahinoor Akhter Tania, a nurse of Ibn Sina Hospital in Dhaka.
Kishoreganj Municipality Mayor Mahmud Parvez, Deputy Civil Surgeon Md Mujibur Rahman, BMA general secretary Dr Abdul Wahab Badal and Nurses’ Association President Abdus Salam were present on the occasion.
Meanwhile, Mahila Parishad organised another human chain at Kalibari intersection of the district town demanding punishment of the rapists and killers of Tania.
Mahila Parishad President Advocate Maya Bhowmik, women leader Sultana Razia and Mohila Awami League joint convener of district unit Bilkis Begum took part in the human chain.
Tania boarded a bus of 'Swarnalata Paribahan' from Mohakhali bus stand in the capital on May 6 on way home.
When the bus reached Ujanpur in Katiadi, other passengers except Tania got down from the bus around 9:30pm.
Later, the driver and his helper violated the girl in the moving bus and strangled her with her scarf before throwing the body out of the vehicle at Gazaria in Bajitpur upazila.
Locals spotted the victim lying on the road and took her to Katiadi Upazila Health Complex where doctors declared her dead around 10:45pm.
