Supreme Court lawyer Syeddul Haque Sumon filed the case against Moazzem under the Digital Security Act on May 15.
A tribunal ordered the OC’s arrest on May 27 after investigators found the allegations brought against him to be true.
The former OC has been accused of unlawfully interrogating Feni madrasa girl Nusrat Jahan Rafi and recording the incident on phone. The video was later circulated on the social media.
Lawyer Salma Sultana filed the bail petition on behalf of the OC. A copy of it was submitted to the office of the Attorney General.
The petition said the matter will be heard by the bench of Justice Md Habibul Goni and Justice Mohiuddin Shamim through the surrender of the OC.
Moazzem had summoned Sonagazi Islamia Senior Fazil Madrasa’s Principal Sirajuddoula and Nusrat to the police station after the latter accused her teacher of sexually harassing her.
Nusrat’s mother had filed a case with Sonagazi police over her daughter’s sexual harassment. The OC interrogated Nusrat in the absence of her lawyer or any other woman and used inappropriate language.
The girl was set on fire on April 6 at an exam centre, reportedly by people loyal to Sirajuddoula. She died on April 10 at Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
