The arrestee has been identified as Mohammad Arman, 25.
Sources at the airport said, a flight of Biman Bangladesh Airlines landed at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at around 1:45 pm from Jeddah via Sylhet. Arman boarded the flight BG-127 from Sylhet.
Acting on a tip off, the AAP members detained Arman from outside the domestic terminal of the airport at around 2:00 pm, said Additional SP of the AAP Alamgir Hossain.
Searching his body, the AAP men recovered 20 gold bars, which were kept hidden inside his pant, said the Additional SP of AAP.
During interrogation, the arrestee reportedly revealed that a passenger named Rupam gave him the gold consignment inside the flight.
Arman, son of Monir Ahmed, hailed from Pendaira Para (North Padua) village of Lohagara police station in Chattogram district.
A case has been filed against him under the Special Powers Act with Airport Police Station.
