Dhaka, Mar 2 (UNB) - A young patient reportedly killed himself by jumping off the 12th floor of Bangladesh Institute of Research and Rehabilitation in Diabetes, Endocrine and Metabolic Disorders (BIRDEM) General Hospital-2 on Saturday.
The deceased was identified as Md Sohrab, 22, son of Motiur Rahman, hailing from Sadergaon village in Narsingdi.
The patient underwent a surgery on his abdomen the day before yesterday at the hospital, the victim’s brother Md Kabir told UNB.
Sohrab was admitted to the hospital on February 25 due to his illness, he said adding, “My brother went to the bathroom today (Saturday) and jumped through the ventilator.”

Sohrab was admitted under Dr Faisal Ahmed of the hospital.
The body was sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) morgue for an autopsy, said Ramna Police OC Kazi Mainul Islam.
