Mayor of Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) Barrister Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh has directed the officials to perform their duties and responsibilities with sincerity and devotion.
He said this while exchanging views with the department heads and regional executives of various departments of the DSCC on Sunday.
The mayor also said that he wants to build his city corporation as a corruption-free, proud, trustworthy and dignified institution.
Warning that corruption and negligence of duty would not be tolerated, he said that strict action will be taken as soon as anything like this comes to light and no one, no matter how senior, will be spared.
Earlier Taposh paid rich tribute to Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman by placing a wreath at Bangabandhu’s portrait at Dhanmondi in the city this morning..
A number of local leaders and workers of Awami League and city corporation chief executive officer Shah Imdadul Haque accompanied the mayor at that time.
Taposh took over the responsibility of the DSCC formally from the chief executive officer of the city corporation Shah Md Imdadul Huq on Saturday afternoon as the term of board under the outgoing Mayor Sayeed Khokon expired.
