Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) on Sunday forecast light to moderate rain, thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty, squally wind for many places over Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram, Rangpur and Rajshahi divisions, in the next 24 hours since 6 pm.
The same was forecast for a few places over Dhaka, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions with moderately heavy to heavy falls at places over the country, said a weather bulletin.
About the synoptic situation, the bulletin said the low pressure area over Northeast Bay and adjoining area now lies over North Bay and adjoining area.
The axis of monsoon trough runs through Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal to Assam across Central part of Bangladesh.
Monsoon is active over the southern part, fairly active elsewhere over the country and strong over North Bay, added the bulletin.
Besides, the bulletin said mild heat wave is sweeping over the regions of Tangail, Nikli, Mymensingh, Sylhet, Rajshahi, Bogura, Sirajgonj, Rangpur, Dinajpur and Sayedpur and it may abate from some places.
Day and night temperature may fall slightly over the country during the period.
