Mentioning that the Road Transport Act (RTA) has been enacted not to punish anyone but to bring back discipline on the streets, Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader on Wednesday urged transport owners and workers not to inflict sufferings on people.
He made the call while speaking at the triennial conference of the district unit of Awami League at Shaheed Bhulu Stadium.
Quader, also Awami League general secretary, said the issue would be settled as the home minister was scheduled to sit in a meeting with the transport leaders today.
Mentioning that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s honesty, hard-work and commitment are the key to her success, he said she is one of the 10 most influential statesmen in the world.
“Sheikh Hasina is the most courageous and prudent administrator, successful diplomat and popular leader in the last 44 years in Bangladesh. Because of her, Bangladesh has turned into a developing country with the highest growth rate in Asia while conquering the sea and the border,” Quader said.
Talking about BNP, the ruling party leader said it is losing its strongholds for its negative politics. “Tarique Rahman is conspiring against the state from abroad and his party is complaining to foreigners after getting no response from the people,” he added.
Earlier, Quader opened the conference by raising the national flag and releasing balloons and doves.
