A nine-member delegation, led by Saudi Minister of Economy and Planning Mohammed Bin Mezyed Al- Twaijri and Minister of Commerce and Planning Majid Bin Abdullah Al Qosaibi, paid a courtesy call on President Hamid at Bangabhaban in the afternoon.
The president said the existing traditional tie has turned into a relation of partnership, his Press Secretary Joynal Abedin told reporters.
President Hamid said the high-level visit between the two countries will play an important role to enhance trade and investment.
He said the Bangladesh-Saudi ties have been developing since the 1973 summit conference of non-aligned states in Algiers between Faisal bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud and Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
President Hamid said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s recent Saudi visit has opened a new window for the bilateral relationship.
He said Bangladesh is very keen to implement the MoU and agreement signed during Hasina’s visit. “The volume of trade and investment between the two countries will increase remarkably,” he hoped.
The president hoped the relationship between the two countries will strengthen through these initiatives in different sectors.
The Saudi delegation said they have formed a working team for exploring potentiality of investment in Bangladesh. They said the socio-economic development of Bangladesh is remarkable and the potentiality of investment in different sectors is very bright.
The delegation also gave importance to marketing and communication for using this potentiality.
Private Industry and Investment Advisor to Prime Minister Salman Fazlur Rahman, Secretary bilateral (Asia an and Pacific) of Foreign Ministry Mahbub Uz Zaman, Ambassador and Permanent Representative to OIC Golam Moshi and Director General (West Asia) Amanul Haq attended the meeting.
Military Secretary to President Major General Md. Sarwar Hossain, Secretary to President Sampad Barua and Press Secretary Abedin were also present.
