She made the call while addressing a programme on dengue prevention activities, arranged by Parliament Members Club, said a handout.
Noting that she had talks with the two mayors of Dhaka north and south city corporations over dengue prevention, the Speaker said Bangladesh Jatiya Sangsad will extend necessary support to both the city corporations in this regard.
Laying emphasis on continuation of the cleanup campaign to destroy the breeding sources of Aedes, Dr Shirin said people will have to make efforts for keeping their houses and surrounding areas neat and clean.
At the programme, 1,000 mosquito nets were distributed among the 4th class employees of the Parliament Secretariat.
The Speaker suggested all to use mosquito nets to protect themselves from dengue.
Like other hospitals in the country, the medical centre of the Jatiya Sangsad has been kept ready to provide dengue treatment round the clock.
“There’ll be arrangements to provide healthcare services from the centre even during the Eid holidays. Some 100 dengue test kits have already been brought for the medical centre,” she said.
