Benapole, Jan 24 (UNB) – A one-day-old infant, stolen from her mother’s lap from a private clinic in Sharsha upazila on Wednesday noon, was rescued by police from Doshtina village in Jhikorgaccha upazila later in the night.
Shariful Islam of Mankia village in the upazila, the father of the infant, said his wife Nasrin Begum was admitted to ‘Polli Clinic and Diagnostic Centre’ in Navaron with labour pain on Wednesday where she gave birth to a baby girl around 9 am.
Later, the infant was stolen from the clinic in absence of the attendant in the noon, said Sub-inspector Abul Hossain of Sharsha Police Station.
Being informed, police conducted a drive at Doshtina village in Jhikorgaccha upazila and arrested a woman in this connection.
Following interrogation, police also rescued the infant, he added.
