The state run organisation has taken the initiative to sell sugar (fresh brand), lentils (medium seize) and soybean oil in order to keep the market prices of the goods stable ahead of Eid.
Under the OMS initiative, the three items will be sold by 187 trucks across the country until the next instruction is given, according to statement of TCB issued on Thursday.
The prices of Sugar and lentil were fixed at Tk50 per kg while Soybean oil at Tk85 per litre. A consumer can buy up to 4 kg Sugar and lentil, and 5 liters of Oil at a time.
TCB spokesperson Humayun Kabir told UNB that they are going to start the sale only sugar, lentil and soybean oil from Sunday.
“We will sell onion, garlic and ginger if these prices are increased in retails markets. Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi told it on Wednesday. The price of onion decreased around Tk7 to Tk10 compared to several days. So TCB decided to sell only the three items under OMS,” he also said.
