Police arrested a bus conductor on Friday morning for allegedly raping a female passenger in Bakchar area of Shalikha upazila in Magura.

The arrestee was identified as Monir Hossain.

Jashore Additional Superintendent of Police Salauddin Shikdar said the victim reached Jashore Monihar Bus terminal at 11pm on Thursday and there was no bus available for Magura.

Monir picked up the victim after she called him for help. He took the girl to Bakchar area where he raped her.

Meanwhile, other transport workers of the Monihar Bus terminal saw Monir picking up the girl at night and informed police.

In the early hours of the day, police tracked down the bus, rescued the girl and arrested Monir.
