Dhaka, Apr 19 (UNB) - United Arab Emirates (UAE) State Minister for International Cooperation Reem Ebrahim Al Hashimy visited a Rohingya camp in Cox’s Bazar district on Friday and saw the situation on the ground.
She also met Rohingyas and UAE-sponsored Malaysian Field Hospital in Ukhiya of the district, said the UAE Embassy in Dhaka.
UAE Ambassador to Bangladesh Saed Mohammed Al Mheiri and Deputy Head of the Mission of the UAE to Bangladesh Abdulla Ali Al Hmoudi and Director General (UN) Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Bangladesh Nahida Sobhan accompanied the UAE delegation during the visit.
Hashimy, also the Director General, Expo 2020 Dubai Bureau, met Foreign Minister Dr AK Abdul Momen.
She was accompanied by Assistant Minister of International Cooperation Sultan AL Shamsi, Office Manager Minister of State of International Cooperation, UAE.
The UAE state minister also called on UNHCR Representative in Bangladesh Steven Corlliss and Senior Advisor to the Representative of World Food Programme, Naila Sattar.
They discussed the severity of Rohingya situation and assessed the humanitarian needs of the refugees.
The UAE has extended its support to emergency food relief for Rohingya women and children in Bangladesh through the UNHCR, Sharjah Media Corporation (SMC), Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF), Big Heart Foundation, Hope Foundation, Kuwait Society for Relief, Khalifa Foundation and Red Crescent, UAE etc.
The UAE state minister will leave here on Saturday.
