The body of Samowar Sattar Pinky, 35, daughter of Abdus Sattar, was dug up from the grave at Chakbarkat village in Sadar upazila at noon following a court order.
Md Mominul Haque, officer-in-charge of Sadar Police Station, said the victim’s family used to live in a rented flat at Sabujnagar of the district town along with Pinky who was unmarried.
Pinky took her farther to a private hospital in Dhaka as he was sick and her mother accompanied him. She used to stay alone at their flat sometimes and enquired about his father over phone.
On December 27 last year, her parents tried to contact her over the phone but failed.
Upon request made by the parents, the flat owner went to the flat and found it locked from inside.
Later, he along with others entered the apartment breaking open the door only to find Pinky hanging from a ceiling fan.
On information, police recovered the body and sent it to hospital for autopsy. It was found in the autopsy report that she committed suicide.
However, the family rejected the postmortem report and filed a case with a court here on February 10.
According to the court order, the body was exhumed for autopsy after three months.
