The convict is Sohel Miah, son of Kashem Miah, a resident of Char Beutha village.
He has also been fined Tk 10,000. He will have to spend two more months in jail if he fails to pay the fine.
According to the prosecution, Sohel told minor Saiful Islam, son of Md Billah, to bring him his father’s smartphone in the morning of June 24, 2013 and promised to give him biscuits.
When the minor boy brought the mobile phone, Sohel strangled him and buried the body at a field.
When Saiful’s family members were searching for him, the villagers said that they had last seen Saiful with Sohel.
Later, locals caught Sohel and handed him over to police. The body was recovered following the murderer’s confession.
Victim’s father later filed a murder case with Sadar Police Station.
After examining all the records and ten witnesses, Additional District and Sessions Judge Shahana Haque handed down the verdict.
