“Our GDP has grown; we are 20 steps ahead in the (Ease of) Doing Business List… In order to maintain the continuity of development of the country, there will be 'zero tolerance' policy against all misdeeds and corruption,” he said.
He made the remarks at a discussion marking the 73rd birth anniversary of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina arranged by BB Foundation at Dhaka Reporters’ Unity (DRU).
The minister mentioned that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has increased the respect of Bangladeshis worldwide by building Padma Bridge with own finances.
"I myself could not believe that Padma Bridge will be constructed through self-finance but our Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has done it," he said.
He claimed that there was no corruption in the construction of Padma Bridge.
“There was no irregularity in the Padma Bridge as per the Canadian courts. Today, through Prime Minister's firm action, the Padma Bridge is on its way to completion,” he said.
Agriculture Minister warned that no one will be spared if caught doing misdeeds.
“We said it in our election manifesto that the 'zero tolerance' policy would be adopted against corruption…even the activists of our party who has gone astray will not be saved,” he said.
Prof Dr AAMS Arefin Siddique, Former Vice-Chancellor of Dhaka University (DU) also spoke at the programme while BB Foundation Chairman Bahadur Bepari chaired the event.
