Among the electronics manufacturers in Bangladesh, Walton is sole exporter of locally made AC and fridge to Yemen.
On this occasion, the local brand organised a ‘Celebration Programme of Walton Air Conditioner Export to Yemen’ held at the conference room of Walton Corporate Office in the capital on Sunday.
The company’s senior officials, including Executive Directors Eva Rezwana, SM Zahid Hasan, Nazrul Islam Sarker, Mohammad Rayhan, Uday Hakim, Sirajul Islam and Md. Tanvir Rahman, Walton’s International Business Unit’s (IBU) President Edward Kim, Deputy Executive Directors Md. Firoj Alam and Shahjada Salim, Additional Operative Director Khondoker Shariar Murshid, AC Dept’s Chief Operating Officer Engineer Ishaque Rony, Head of Asia, Middle East and Africa region of IBU Roqibul Islam Rakib, Deputy Operative Director Mofizur Rahman, among others, celebrated the first-ever export of Walton made AC to Yemen through cutting a cake at the event.
Roqibul Islam Rakib said that Walton received an export order of air conditioner from one of the leading electronics brands of Yemen in June, which was shipped in the first week of July.
The export was made under the OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) method, he added.
Walton IBU’s President Edward Kim said, “Now, the prime target of Walton is to secure a strong market position in the global electronics market. A strategic roadmap has been prepared to achieve the goal.
He noted that Walton has emphasized on the OEM business to drive its global business volume, along with the nursing of own brand’s presence in the international market.
He opined that Walton sees a promising international market as it has a great competitiveness in terms of products’ technology, global standard and price compared to other global brands.
Walton AC’s Chief Executive Officer Md Tanvir Rahman said Walton has been exporting refrigerators to Yemen for the last couple of year. Now, air conditioner is added in the list of Walton products’ export to the middle-eastern country.
Like refrigerator, AC made by Walton will get huge popularity among the people of Yemen, he hoped.
Walton’s Executive Director Uday Hakim said, Walton greatly focused on grabbing a remarkable share of the global electronics market. The company set a target of earning US$ 1 billion from the exports of electronics and electricals appliances by 2028. To meet the target, Walton planned to enter into the developed countries’ markets like America, Europe and Australia.
