“Those who usurped power have now got unnerved losing self-confidence. They’re now trying to destroy their opponents without facing them politically,” he said.
Khosru, a BNP standing committee member, came up with the allegation while speaking at a discussion arranged by Bangladesh Jatiya Dal at the Jatiya Press Club, marking the 13th imprisonment day of BNP acting chairman Tarique Rahman.
He alleged that Awami League has lost its capability to compete with BNP in politics as their party has now become stronger by facing political adversities. “Our leaders and activists have proved their dedication to the party by making huge sacrifices over the last 10 years.”
The BNP leader opposed the government’s move to increase the gas tariffs and said the public hearing on gas power hike is a big ‘deception’. “The gas tariffs are being raised in the name of public hearing. What can be more treacherous act than it?”
He said people are struggling to adjust the current prices of commodities and utility services as their purchasing capacity and real income have declined over the last 10 years.
Khosru said the government has taken the move to hike the gas tariffs without thinking the sufferings of people since it has no accountability.
