South restricted Central to 269 in their second innings at Chattogram’s Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium. They needed only 134 to win.
In the first innings, Central scored 261 with the fifties from Shadman Islam and Taibur Rahman. Al Amin Hossain and Mahedi Hasan took three wickets each.
South replied with 397, with fifties from Anamul Haque, Fazle Mahmud, Tushar Imran and Raqibul Hasan, and posted a 136-run lead. Arafat Sunny took four wickets.
In the second innings, Central scored 269 with Mahedi Hasan and Kamrul Islam Rabbi taking four wickets each. South looked comfortable as it chased down 134 with seven wickets in hand.
The other BCL match between East Zone and North Zone ended in a draw at Rajshahi’s Shahid Kamruzzaman Stadium.
North needed 452 runs to win but at the end of the final day, their score stood at 116.
Centuries from Rony Talukdar and Mohammad Ashraful helped East post 466 in the first innings. Sunzamul Islam took five wickets. North, in response, scored 377, giving East an 89-run lead.
In the second innings, East set a mammoth 452-run target with the help of Mominul Haque’s superb 194-run knock.
But, North did not get enough to time to chase the target. They added 116 for one before the end of the final day.
