The team made their first training session ahead of their joint qualification (Round-1) for the FIFA World Cup 2022 and AFC Asian Cup 2023.
Head coach of Bangladesh national football team Jamie Day expressed his overall satisfaction over fitness of national booters.
“Everyone comeback after the game against Laos, I’m very pleased with that, we have no problem with the fitness”, Bangladesh coach said.
“They worked hard for club [in the Bangladesh Premier League] in my absence. They did home works well in my absence,” he added.
Asking about the preparations, Jamie said, “Now the next two weeks will make them sharp enough. So we do hope we will be ready before the game.”
A total 19 players joined the camp among initially called 26 players.
Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) named a 25-member preliminary squad on August 16 for the 9-day residential camp.
Later, Head coach Jamie Day included an additional goalkeeper Mazharul Islam Himel.
After the residential camp, BFF will finalize the 23-member final squad on August 31.
Seven players of Dhaka Abahani Ltd. -- goalkeeper ShahidulAlamSohel, defender Tutul Hosain Badsha, midfielders Mamunul Islam Mamun and Sohel Rana, forwards Nabib Newaz Jiban, SaadUddin and Jewel Rana -- were absent in the camp due to their preoccupation in the away match of the AFC Cup Football against April 25 SC on August 28 at the Kim-ll-Sung Stadium in Pyongyang, North Korea.
Bangladesh have been placed in Group E along with Qatar, Oman, neighbouring India and Afghanistan. Bangladesh team will fly for Tajikistan on September 1 on a nine-day training session, ahead of their first match against Afghanistan on September 10 in Tajik capital Dushanbe.
Bangladesh team will play two preparatory matches against two leading Tajik football clubs on September 3 and 5 during the training session.
Bangladesh will play their home match against stronger Qatar on October 10, away match with India on October 15, away match against Oman on November 14 and home match with Afghanistan on March 26, away match with Qatar on March 31 and home matches with India on June 4 and Oman on June 9.
