Bangla TV will telecast Bangladesh-Afghanistan match from Dushanbe on Tuesday at 8 pm.
In a pre-match press-conference at Atlas Hotel in Dushanbe Monday morning, Bangladesh Head Coach Jamie Day said his players are ready and looking forward for Tuesday’s match.
“Our Players are trained well & I was pleased with their performance in the friendly match. It’s going to be a very tough match against a good team because some Afghan players are playing in European clubs, but we are looking forward to do our best as we have good team & having good result for last few month,” Jamie said.
In their last five meeting against Afghanistan, Bangladesh won one match by 4-1 goals in 1979, lost one match by 0-4 goals in the South Asian Federation (SAFF) Games in 2015 while the rest three matches ended in draw.
Asking about the previous records, Bangladesh head coach said, “record reflect that Tuesday’s matches will be tough for us, as Bangladesh have not beaten them since 1979, if we make a positive result in tomorrow’s game then it will be a fantastic achievement for us.”
"Afghanistan is very strong team, It’ll be a very fighting match with Afghanistan, We’re here for last nine days and having some good preparation, and very excited to give our best to win the match," said Bangladesh Captain Jamal Bhuyan.
Bangladesh Captain Jamal Bhuyan, Team Manager Satyajit Das Rupu, Afghanistan football team Head Coach Anoush Dastgir and other officials of FIFA and AFC were present in the press conference.
Bangladesh ranked 182nd in FIFA and ranked 37th in the AFC ranking while Afghanistan was placed 149th in the FIFA Ranking and 29th AFC ranking.
Afghanistan coach Anous Dastgir said "We’re ready to play our 2nd match against Bangladesh. It’ll be different game as Bangladesh are very good team and they have new coaches including good players.”.
"It’ll be a very interesting match for both of us. We’ll play our best, our attacking side are good, hope to win the match,” said Afghanistan Captain Farshad Nur.
Earlier, Bangladesh Football team reached Tajikistan on September 2 to conduct 8-day preparation camp and to play two preparatory matches ahead of their first-leg away game against Afghanistan.
In the first preparatory match, Bangladesh conceded a 0-2 goals defeat against FC Kuktosh, who finished 3rd in the Tajik top league while played to a 1-1 draw with another top-tier Tajik Club CSKA Pamir in their 2nd preparatory match.
Bangladesh, which put in Group E along with Qatar, Oman, neighboring India and Afghanistan, will play their home match against stronger Qatar on October 10, away match with India on October 15, away match against Oman on November 14 and home match with Afghanistan on March 26, away match with Qatar on March 31 and home matches with India on June 4 and Oman on June 9.
