The match is also the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) debut of AB de Villiers.
Both of Sylhet and Rangpur played six matches in the tournament so far and won two of them. But Rangpur have a better place in the points table thanks to a better run-rate.
In the previous match, Sylhet lost to the current runners-up - Dhaka Dynamites- by six wickets. David Warner hit a fifty in the match, but he was overshadowed by Shakib Al Hasan who also hit a fifty and ensured a win for his team.
On the other hand, Rangpur played their previous match against Sylhet and lost by 27 runs, which was their third loss in succession.
Meanwhile, it will be David Warner’s last match in the ongoing BPL. After the Sylhet phase of the tournament, he will fly home due to an elbow injury.
