He took the test after suffering from cold for a few days and the result came out on Sunday.
A family source said Shakib’s mother Shirin Reza had also taken the coronavirus test but is yet to receive her result.
Former Bagladesh captain Mashrafe Bin Mortaza, left-arm spinner Nazmul Islam Apu, and former opener Nafis Iqbal had also been tested positive. But all of them have recovered.

Due to the coronavirus, all cricketing activities were halted in Bangladesh for four months before an individual training programme took place from Sunday. Only nine cricketers join this programme.
At least 14 international matches of Bangladesh have been postponed due to coronavirus including five Tests which are part of the ongoing World Test Championship. All of these matches rescheduled.
Meanwhile, as per the latest update, more than 2,618 have died of coronavirus and total infection has crossed 200,000 in Bangladesh.
